Common mistakes

Small fixes that prevent a bad bag

Most sorting errors are easy to avoid once you know the pattern: packaging goes by material, dirty waste stays out, and special waste has its own point.

Drink cartons combine cardboard, plastic and aluminium, so they belong in the yellow ecopoint.

Empty and drain packaging before recycling. Washing everything wastes water and is not required.

Empty the paper or glass into the matching ecopoint. The plastic bag itself goes to the yellow ecopoint.

If paper or cardboard is greasy, wet or full of food, keep it out of the blue ecopoint and use general waste.

Use the pilhão for batteries, the oleão for cooking oil, textile containers for clothes, and WEEE collection points for small electronics.
